Example: trades
Websites for electricians, plumbers and builders.
Someone with no hot water is not reading your about page. They want a phone number, proof you are qualified and confirmation you cover their street. A trade site should give them all three in about four seconds.
NICEIC approved
Electrical work, done when we said.
Norwich and 25 miles around. Emergency call-outs day and night.
Designed for a phone first, because that is where the call comes from.
Preview of the demo site
This is a scaled preview. The demo itself is a real, working site: the navigation works, the questions open and every page is there.
Halliwell Electrical is an invented business. The names, reviews, prices, accreditations and figures shown are illustrative, and none of the buttons on the demo contact anyone.
Your work, on the page
Photos of real jobs beat anything you can buy.
A before and after of a fuse board does more work than three paragraphs about your commitment to quality.
Phone photos are fine. We will tell you exactly what to shoot, how to stand so the light is behind you, and which four or five jobs are worth photographing. Then we crop, compress and lay them out so the page still loads quickly.
If you have nothing yet, the site can launch with clean illustrations like these. Photos that arrive before the site goes live are swapped in as part of the build. Photos that arrive afterwards are either covered by the Care Plan or quoted as a small change.
Built in as standard
The bits a trade site actually needs.
None of these are extras you pay more for. They are in the package because a trade site without them does not get the phone to ring.
A phone number you cannot miss
Top of the screen, tap to dial, visible the whole way down the page. It sounds obvious. Most trade sites bury it in a footer.
Emergency call-out banner
If you take out-of-hours work, it goes where nobody can scroll past it, along with what counts as an emergency and what it costs.
Accreditations up front
NICEIC, Gas Safe, TrustMark, Part P, FENSA, your insurance cover. Shown as badges near the top, where they do their job.
A real service area
Your towns and villages listed by name, not a vague radius. It answers the question the visitor actually has, and it gives search engines something specific to read.
Before and after photos
The single most persuasive thing on a trade site, laid out so it still loads fast on a phone in a van.
Quote request with photos
A form that lets someone send a picture of the problem, so you can price it without a wasted visit.
WhatsApp button
Plenty of customers will send a photo on WhatsApp who would never fill in a form. One tap, straight into your messages.
Reviews pulled forward
Your best Google reviews shown on the page, linked to your Google Business Profile so people can check they are real.
Guarantees and insurance
Workmanship guarantee, public liability cover, company number and registered address. Quiet proof that you are a proper business.
Questions answered before they ring
The four things everybody asks, answered on the page, so the calls you do get are the ones worth taking.
Beyond the standard build
Things you can add when you need them.
None of this is in the fixed price, and none of it is pushed on you. It is here so you know what is possible later, once the site has earned its keep.
A page per big service
One proper page for EV chargers, another for rewires. Worth doing when a service is valuable enough to compete for on its own in search.
Job gallery that grows
A larger, categorised gallery you can keep adding to, rather than the handful of photos the standard build carries.
Google Business Profile setup
Claimed, filled in properly, hours and service area right, and linked to the site. For most trades this drives more calls than the website does.
Review request cards
A QR code and short link that takes a happy customer straight to your Google review box, printed for your van, invoices or a card.
Extra photography help
A shot list for your phone, or arranging a local photographer for half a day. Business email setup is not an extra: it is included with every build.
Downloadable documents
Your insurance certificate, accreditation letters or a rate card, hosted properly so you can send a link instead of an attachment.
Extras are quoted separately and always agreed before anything starts. None of them are needed for the site to do its job.
Worth saying
One page is usually enough.
Most trades do not need three pages. If you fit fuse boards, chargers and do landlord certificates, all of that sits comfortably on one page and reads better for it.
Go to three pages when your services are genuinely different jobs for different customers, for example if you do domestic rewires and commercial maintenance contracts and want to talk to each of them properly.
