How it works
From first call to live site, usually inside two weeks.
There is no long discovery phase and no proposal document. The offer is deliberately narrow, which is what keeps the process short. Your part takes about an hour in total.
The four steps, in short
A 20-minute call
What you do, who you want calling you, and which package fits.
Day oneYou send your bits
Logo, photos, services, prices and a few sites you like.
Days two to fourWe build it
A private link to the finished site, written and laid out.
5 to 10 working daysChanges, then live
Your notes actioned, domain pointed, site switched on.
Same weekStep one
The 20-minute call
A normal phone call, or a video call if you prefer. It is free, there is nothing to prepare and nobody will try to sell you a retainer at the end of it.
We are trying to work out three things: what you actually do, who you want ringing you, and whether one page or three pages is right. If we think you need something bigger than we build, we will say so and suggest where to go instead.
By the end of the call you will have a fixed price, a rough start date and a clear list of what to send over.
What we will ask you
- What work do you most want more of?
- Where do your customers come from now?
- Which areas or postcodes do you cover?
- What do people usually ring up and ask?
- Do you have prices you are happy to publish?
- Which competitor sites do you rate, and why?
Step two
You send your bits
This is the only part that needs anything from you, and it takes most people about half an hour. Email it, WhatsApp it, or send a voice note and let us write it up. We are not fussy about the format.
The two to four inspiration sites matter more than people expect. They tell us in thirty seconds what you mean by smart, or clean, or professional, which is far quicker than trying to describe it.
Missing something? Send what you have. We will fill gaps with good stock photography and write the words from your notes.
The checklist
- Your logo, if you have one, in any format
- Photos of your work, your team or your premises
- A list of services, and prices if you publish them
- Your areas covered and opening hours
- Any accreditations, memberships or insurance details
- Reviews you are proud of, and where they came from
- Two to four websites you like the look of
Step three
We build it
You do not need to be involved in this part. We structure the page around the decision your customer is making, write the words, lay it out and test it on a phone before anything else.
Everything is hand-built. No page builder, no heavy theme, no plugin stack that slows the site down and needs updating every month. That is the reason these sites load quickly and keep loading quickly.
You get a private preview link when it is ready. Nothing is public until you say so.
What happens in the build
- Structure: the order a customer needs to read things in
- Words: written from your notes, in plain English
- Design: your colours, your photos, clean and uncluttered
- Speed: images compressed, nothing loaded that is not used
- Contact: tap to call, WhatsApp and a form to your inbox
- Google: titles, descriptions, business details and a sitemap
- Checks: real phones, real thumbs, slow connections
Step four
Changes, then live
Go through the preview link and send your notes in one go. Anything from a wrong phone number to a photo you have gone off. We work through the list and send it back.
When you are happy, we point your domain at the site and switch it on. If you have an existing site, we get everything ready first and make the switch at a quiet time, so there is no gap where nothing is there.
After launch you get the login details, the files and a short note on how to change things yourself if you want to.
Going live
- One proper round of changes, worked through as a list
- Domain pointed for you, including DNS and SSL
- Email left alone, so nothing stops working
- Site submitted to Google
- Handover of accounts and files, all in your name
- Care Plan started only if you have asked for it
Worth knowing
Where the time actually goes.
Five to ten working days is the build. The thing that stretches a project is almost always waiting for photos or prices, so the sooner your bits arrive, the sooner it is live.
About an hour
Your total time on the whole project: the call, gathering your bits, and reading the preview.
One round of changes
Send everything in a single list. Endless small revisions one at a time are what turn a two-week build into a two-month one.
No surprise invoices
The price agreed on the call is the price. If you later want something outside the package, we quote it separately first.
Process questions
The usual ones.
When do I pay?
Half when we start, half when you approve the site and before it goes live. You will have seen the finished thing before the second payment.
What if I do not like the first version?
Tell us plainly and we will fix it. That is what the round of changes is for. It is rare for the direction to be wrong, because the inspiration sites you send at step two settle the look before we start.
Can I write my own copy?
Yes, and it will still be tidied for the web, which usually means making it shorter. If you would rather talk it through and have it written for you, that is what the call is for.
Do you need access to my domain?
We need to change two settings at your domain provider. You can either give us access to that one account, or we can send you the exact settings to paste in and stay on the phone while you do it.
What happens if I want changes six months later?
On the Care Plan, send them over and they come out of your hour for that month. Without it, we quote for the time, which for most small changes is modest. Either way you are never charged for something you have not agreed to first.
Start with the call.
Twenty minutes, no charge, no obligation. You will come away knowing exactly what it would cost and how long it would take.
